   Others
The undersigned and Mrs S Vijayalakshmi, FM, who attended the Capacity Building Programme at CIDT, UK, shared the key learning points from the programme with all Faculty Members at the Institute. The FMs have also been advised to chalk out a strategy to implement the action plan prepared by the undersigned for making improvements in the training programme evaluation methodology, day-to-day schedules, Reading Materials, etc. A sensitization session on Total Quality Management is also envisaged for being conducted for the benefit of all Faculty Members and other officers of BIRD.
A Consultancy Cell has been constituted in the Institute with three faculty members as its members. Though the work relating to consultancy will be attended to by all FMs as per their experience and expertise, the officers identified for the Cell will be scouting for consultancies by liaisoning with the likely clients and paying special attention to this work. This is likely to give a boost to consultancy related work in the institute.
Two of our faculty members have proceeded to Kalinga Gramya Bank, Cuttack to make a presentation on the recommendations of our study teams on Amalgamation of RRBs in the state of Orissa. Similar presentations are expected to be made in other states shortly. This consultancy assignment is supplementary to the Consultancy provided by us earlier to their sponsor bank viz., UCO Bank.
Faculty meetings were held on two occasions during the month. Important issues like scouting for consultancy assignments, marketing of training programmes, Internal Quality Audit, etc. were discussed in the meeting.
Keeping in view NABARD HO instructions, to its Regional Offices and Training Establishments and also that all except three of the officers of the Institute are from NABARD, we have introduced a five-day week work schedule for the staff in BIRD from 14 September 2006 for the training programmes, the five day schedule is implemented from the week commencing from 28 August 2006.
