| Training Programmes |
|
As per the decision taken by the Governing Council in its 20th meeting, we forward herewith the progress report for the month of August 2006 for your kind perusal.

| In-Campus Programmes |
|
During the month, 12 In-Campus training programmes were conducted by BIRD with 249 participants. With this, the total number of In-Campus programmes conducted during the year 2006-07 stood at 132 with a participation of 3183 (Average 24.1) as against 150 programmes with 3332 participants (average 22.2) during the corresponding period of the last year. |

12 participants from Sri Lanka attended a training programme on Micro-enterprise Development during the month at BIRD. |
| On-location Programmes |
|
8 on location programmes were conducted by BIRD during the month i.e. 2 workshops on cluster development at Sambalpur and Hyderabad, one programme on MDP for Balasore DCCB and 4 programmes on Change Management and Business Development and one programme for Internal Change Agents on Facilitation for the officers of Pragathi Gramin Bank. |

Shri A K Das, Faculty Member was deputed to CAB, Pune for coordinating a joint programme for the Board of Directors of Cooperatives.

Twenty Sixth Meeting of the Governing Council of BIRD was held on 11 December 2006 at Mumbai. |

A two member team from Germany viz. Miss. Ina Dettmann Busch of InWent, and Thomas Sermersheim of Bankakademie International, Germany had visited BIRD on 14th December 2006. The visit was primarily exploratory in nature and for conducting programmes in collaboration with BIRD. A presentation on BIRD was made and discussions were held on the possibility of collaboration with these institutions. |

Sixteenth Meeting of the Finance Committee was held on 8 December 2006 to approve the revised budget for 2006-07 and budget estimates for 2007-08. |

A meeting of the CGMs of NABARD and select Principals of CTIs in those States which have entered into MoU under Vaidyanathan Committee Recommendations was convened on 8 December 2006 at BIRD. The modules for capacity building of the functionaries of PACS and the relevant ToTs prepared by the Group constituted by NABARD HO were examined and suggestions for modifications were made. |

Based on the decision take in the above meeting, reading material for the first module of training programme for the Secretaries of PACS has since been forwarded to DCRR for finalization |

A State Level SHG and Farmers Club Award Function was convened by Uttar Pradesh RO in BIRD auditorium on 21 December 2006. |
| |
One of our Faculty Members handled a session on Portfolio Management of Debt Market Instruments by Banks, Corporations and Financial Institutions at Regional Conference of Cost Accountants held in Lucknow on 24 December 2006. |
| |
Faculty meetings were held twice during the month. Important areas including consultancy assignments, conduct of seminars and workshops in contemporary areas, Programme announcements and marketing, etc. were discussed in the meeting. |
