Monthly Progress Report – February 2006
The highlights of important developments that had taken place during February 2006  are as follows:
a.
Syllabus Committee-cum-Training Consultation Workshop was organised  during 7-8 February 2006 to finalise the training calendar /curricula of the programmes for the year 2006-07.  The workshop  received good response from all the client groups and  31 participants representing various clients groups viz. Commercial banks, cooperative banks, regional rural banks and NGOs attended. 
 
b.
Conferences of Principals of ACSTI/GMs of SCBs and JLTC/GMs of SCARDBs were also conducted during 27-28  February and 28-01 March 2006 respectively.  They were made aware of the Vaidyanathan Committee (I & II  respectively) recommendations and the responsibilities  flowing there from. The principals requested for a Training Programme on Teaching Skills for their FMs which is tentatively stated to be conducted for 01 week from 27 March 2006. 
  Training Activities
 In-Campus Programmes

During the month, 19 In-Campus training programmes were conducted and these were attended by  399 participants. With these, as against the annual target of conducting 201 programmes in-campus, the total number of programmes conducted during the eleven months period ended 28 February  2006, stood at 190 with a total participation of 4220 personnel from various banks and other agencies. The average participation per programme works out to 21 for the month of February 2005 and 22.21 for the eleven months period from 01 April 2005 to February 2006. 

A Training-cum-Exposure visit to South Africa  was conducted during the month from 1 to 15 February  2006 which was attended by 15 participants. 

  On-location Programmes

A total of eleven on-location programmes were conducted  during the month of February 2006.  Out of this, 3 programmes each on Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure  and Rural Godown were conducted in collaboration with  NIAM, Jaipur.  Four  programmes on Agri-clinic and Agri-business centres were conducted as paid programmes.  We have conducted a training programme on Funds Management for the benefit of officers of Punjab State Cooperative Bank Ltd., at ACSTI, Jalandhar. 

 
   Studies and Consultancies
The consultancy assignment  on  Merger of RRBs sponsored by UCO Bank operating in Orissa and Madhya Pradesh  States  has since been completed and reports forwarded to the bank in respect of their RRBs in Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. The reports in respect of the remaining States are under finalisation. 
Final  DPS report of Almora in Uttaranchal district has since been forwarded to Uttaranchal NABARD RO
A brief presentation on the findings of Field Study for preparation of DPS for East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand was conducted on 13 February 2006.
Discussions were held with Shri Vipin Sharma, Programme Director, CARE India, New Delhi for getting consultancy assignments relating to  micro credit. Discussions were held with Shri Shivendra Sharma, Executive Director. Planet Finance  for consultancy assignments.
A consultancy proposal for  conducting three State Level  Exit Strategy workshop under IFAD Project  in North Eastern Region in community resources management has been submitted to North Eastern Development Council. 
   Other Developments
Bank of Boarda, convenor of SLBC  conducted the meeting of the members of SLBC on 01 February 2006 in BIRD Campus which  was presided over by   Dr. Anil Khendelwal, Chairman of Bank of Baroda.  The scope for collaboration in conducting training programmes for the officials of Bank of Baroda as well as    for undertaking  consultancy assignment  on merger of RRBs sponsored by Bank of Baroda was discussed with the officials of Bank of Boarda. 
Indian Network on Participatory Irrigation Management, New Delhi conducted 2 programmes of 3 days each for the engineers of UPID during 20-25 February 2006 by hiring  BIRD’s  infrastructure.
