 Training Programmes
During the month, 12 training programmes were conducted with a participation of 343 (Average 28.58). With this, the total number of In-campus programmes conducted during the first six months of 2007-08 stood at 89 with a participation of 2025 (Average 22.75) as against participation of 2320 in 90 programmes (Average 25.77) during April – September 2006.
 Programmes for senior officers
During the month we conducted two programmes for senior officers of RRBs. One programme was on ‘Fund and Investment Management’ for Chairmen and Regional Managers, which had a participation of 21, and the other was ‘Orientation programme’ for General Managers and Regional Managers which had a participation of 19. We had also conducted a two-day training programme on SHG-Bank linkage for CEOs of NGOs, which was attended by 30 CEOs of various NGOs
   Consultancies
The teams of Faculty Members identified to undertake the consultancy assignments awarded by MoRD, GoI have completed field studies in respect of Orissa, Bihar and Uttar Pradeh. Presently field study of Chhattisgarh is in progress.
   Centre for MicroFinance Research

: Based on the recommendations of Committee headed by Shri S.K.Mitra, ED, our proposal for setting up of ‘Centre for MicroFinance Research’ at BIRD has been approved by MD, NABARD. We have since commenced follow-up action on various recommendations of the Committee.

   Conferences/ Meetings
A presentation on making BIRD a ‘Certification Agency’ by running certification courses for trainers, auditors and for existing and prospective employees of the Cooperative Credit Institutions was made on 04 September 2007 before consultants from Germany representing the GTZ and the Academy for German Cooperatives (ADG).
The Consultants from GTZ, Germany mentioned above visited the states of West Bengal and Maharashtra in connection with the Capacity Development and Certification Systems of ST cooperative credit structure.
