Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Lucknow is a premier institute for providing training, research and consultancy services in the field of agriculture and rural development banking in India. The institute was established in 1983 by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the apex development bank supporting agriculture and rural development in India. In 1992, BIRD was reconstituted as a Society (under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860), promoted and funded by NABARD. Since then, BIRD made significant strides and carved out a niche for itself in the training map of India. It is widely known in Banking, Government and NGO sectors for the quality of its product and services. The institute offers custom designed training solutions for banks, government agencies, NGOs and other institutions connected with agriculture and rural development banking to address the new challenges concerning the sector. BIRD also organizes international training programmes and workshops in collaboration with global partners such as ILO, APRACA, CICTAB etc.
