within an organization. Today, various IT enabled services
are based on the networks in sharing data and information
amongst various user groups for their efficient management.
It is in this context that a four days programme on
“ Network Management and its Advantages”
has been designed for the bankers having working knowledge
on computers. The programme aims at equipping the participants

There is a growing awareness among
Banks and practitioners of micro-finance about the importance
and relevance of SHG as a business proposition with
added advantages of stimulating a sustainable growth
for both the client and the Bank. In order to create
a strong base of resource persons within each institution
and reduce the perceived performance gap, Exclusively
Trainers Training Programmes on SHGs are conducted by
BIRD. The earlier Programmes have received wider appreciation
and encouraging response from Faculty Members of Banks
as well as senior officers of Banks.

on Appraisal of Micro-finance Institutions/ NGOs for
Officers of Commercial Bank

This programme is specially designed
for officers working in the areas where a large number
of SHGs have been financed by bank branches or where
intermediary agencies like federations of SHGs, MFIs
etc., are existing and willing to act as financial intermediary
between banks and members of SHGs. This warrants acquiring
deeper Knowledge of wide variety of forms of micro-finance
practitioners particularly in terms of legal status,
organogram, style of management, credit delivery model,
staffing, product and services, nature of assets- liabilities
and business strategy of MFIs etc. In keeping with the
emerging requirements of the Commercial Banks, BIRD
has been organizing training Programme on “Appraisal
of Micro Finance Institutions / NGOs” for officers
of Commercial Banks. The earlier programmes conducted
for middle and senior level officers had received overwhelming
response and appreciation from commercial banks.

proposals (working capital and block capital), analysis

(AEZs) by Government of India, RBI, NABARD etc.
a three-day sensitization programme is designed.

of AEZs may take the advantage of this programme.
The contents covered are importance of Agri -
Export Zones in the context of National Agriculture
Policy and EXIM policy, concept of AEZs, Role
of various project partners in implementation
of AEZs, Export Credit, etc. A few successful
examples of agri - export are also shared.

This programme is meant for
the senior level officers of banks including GMs
and CEOs. At the end of the programme the participants
will be able to understand the issues relating
to Fund and Investment Management, to create awareness
on the intricacies in Fund & Investment Management
and to develop the skills for improving the efficiency
of Fund & Investment Management function.
The course content will cover scanning and understanding
of financial environment, understanding the nature
and characteristics of fund flows, microscopic
view of investment market- instruments and players,
measuring and managing risks and returns in investments,
use of tools and techniques for fund management,
review of fund management situation in banks,
portfolio analysis of funds for different purposes

of ALM and familiarize with the tools / techniques

money market, capital market and credit market,
Risk Management- Liquidity risk, interest rate
risk etc. External data gathering and Internal
date gathering - analysis, measurement, analysis
and management of liquidity risk and interest
rate risk - gap, Duration & VAR, Pricing strategy
and execution of the policy, asset liability management

This programme is meant for
officials at branch level as well as middle management
cadre. The programme will enable the participants
to understand the need and impact of NPA management,
familiarization with the policy guidelines on
prudential norms, acquire knowledge and skills
to apply asset classification, income recognition
and provisioning norms, familiarization with different
management techniques on recovery management so
as to contain non-performing assets. The contents
will cover broadly prudential norms- concept,
introduction of prudential norms to Indian banking
system, policy guidelines on prudential norms,
case exercises on asset classification, income
recognition and provisioning requirements, assessment
of impact of prudential norms on operating result
of banks, credit risk and techniques to credit
risk management, good appraisal techniques. Techniques
of management of Non-performing assets, DRT/ Securitisation
Act will be solicited and Case studies on recovery
management.

The programme will enable the
participants to equip with necessary skills to
devise off site surveillance and early warning
system, equip with knowledge, skill and attitude
required to manage control functions, develop
skills for prevention/ detecting frauds and familiarize
with the prudential norms and disclosures. The
contents will broadly cover concept of risk management
in banks, internal control system devices, objectives
and features, implementation of prudential norms,
income recognition, asset classification and provisioning
requirements, analysis of financial statements-
important ratios, revenue audit and income leakage
- conduct and management , causes and preventive
measures-frauds, robberies and embezzlement, CAMELS
rating systems and their relevance, designing
internal control systems for risk management,
control system for investment operations, precautionary
measures on computer disaster management, branch
control-needs, methods, performance appraisal
etc. , inspection in computerized environment-precautions,
case studies from RRBs and co-operatives on asset
classification/compliance and actual reports.
