Network Management and its Advantages
 
Computer networks have emerged as an important tool in improving the efficiency of communication within an organization. Today, various IT enabled services are based on the networks in sharing data and information amongst various user groups for their efficient management. It is in this context that a four days programme on “ Network Management and its Advantages” has been designed for the bankers having working knowledge on computers. The programme aims at equipping the participants with the skills of managing and using computer networks as also apprising them of latest developments in the field.
Training Programme on Basic Computer Skills
 
In the organizations such as RRBs/Co-ops/NGOs etc. use of personal computers for day to day office work has become essential for improving productivity and performance. However in the absence of sufficient trained manpower, many RRBs/Co-ops/NGOs are still not able to take the full advantage of computers.We Trains the participants in such a way as to make them relate the training to their job situation. The topics covered are basics of computers, windows, MS-WORD, MS-EXCEL, MS-Power Point and Internet.This programme hasbeen received very good response.
Training Programme on Application of Excel in Project Appraisal And Investment
 
Use of computer in banks is fast revolutionizing the environment of Banking. Many operations related to Project appraisal and investment can be performed with the help of Excel. The electronic spreadsheet is a highly interactive computer programme. It is a feature rich product, which can be used at many different levels.
Orientation Programme for Chairmen of RRBs
 
This is one of the core programmes conducted for the orientation of newly placed chairmen of RRBs towards the functioning and concerns of RRBs. This programme in the past has invited high level of appreciation from the participants. The programme covers a wide range of topics of relevance to a CEO of RRBs such as Fund Management, HRM, Micro finance, MIS, operational issues concerning RRBs etc.
Trainers Training Programme of Training Techniques
 
This is a two - week programme that covers various aspects of training including skills, and design of training. The programme invites trainers and training managers of financial institutions of India and abroad. The participants in the past have rated this program very high due to its participatory and pragmatic approach to delivery of content.
Programme on Developing Internal change Agents/Internal Facilitators under ODI
 
As one of most popular programmes of HRD discipline of BIRD, the programme aims to develop facilitation skills of the participants in the organization development. The participants of the programme include Managers/Senior Managers of RRBs. The programme in the past has received wide appreciation.
Trainer's Training Programme on SHG
 
There is a growing awareness among Banks and practitioners of micro-finance about the importance and relevance of SHG as a business proposition with added advantages of stimulating a sustainable growth for both the client and the Bank. In order to create a strong base of resource persons within each institution and reduce the perceived performance gap, Exclusively Trainers Training Programmes on SHGs are conducted by BIRD. The earlier Programmes have received wider appreciation and encouraging response from Faculty Members of Banks as well as senior officers of Banks.
Programme on Appraisal of Micro-finance Institutions/ NGOs for Officers of Commercial Bank
 
This programme is specially designed for officers working in the areas where a large number of SHGs have been financed by bank branches or where intermediary agencies like federations of SHGs, MFIs etc., are existing and willing to act as financial intermediary between banks and members of SHGs. This warrants acquiring deeper Knowledge of wide variety of forms of micro-finance practitioners particularly in terms of legal status, organogram, style of management, credit delivery model, staffing, product and services, nature of assets- liabilities and business strategy of MFIs etc. In keeping with the emerging requirements of the Commercial Banks, BIRD has been organizing training Programme on “Appraisal of Micro Finance Institutions / NGOs” for officers of Commercial Banks. The earlier programmes conducted for middle and senior level officers had received overwhelming response and appreciation from commercial banks.
Programme on Financial Management of Micro-finance Institutions/ NGOs
 
In keeping with the emerging requirements of the MFIs/NGOs, BIRD has been organizing training Programme on “ Financial Management of Micro Finance Institutions / NGOs” for senior officials of MFIs/ NGOs / Other financing institutions. The Programme aims at imparting appropriate skills necessary to have clarity on the concept of financial information, analytical tools and also builds awareness on financial standards and appraisal standards.
Programme on Financing of Small Enterprises in Rural Non Farm Sector
 
This programme would be useful to Senior and Middle level officers of Commercial Banks, RRBs, SCBs and DCCBs and focuses major areas under non farm sector such as assessment of potentials, clusters, sub-sectors, appraisal techniques of RNFS proposals (working capital and block capital), analysis of Financial Statements, role of various concerned agencies like govt,/promotional agencies/NGOs in this sector, Co-ordination aspects-joint appraisals and salient features of different promotional schemes/formulation thereof.
Programme on Financing of Working Capital
 
This programme is targeted at Middle level officers of Commercial Banks, Senior Middle level officers of RRBs, SCBs, DCCBs, Primary Urban Co-operative Banks and SCARDBs/PCARDBs and covers vital aspects related to financing of working capital viz Importance and concept of working capital, appraisal techniques for proposals on working capital financing, analysis of Balance Sheet and other financial statements, procedures and documentation involved in financing working capital and Case Studies of working capital financing.
Programme on Financing Rural Housing
 

The expected participants for this programme could be Senior and middle level officers of Commercial banks, RRBs, SCBs and DCCBs, Primary Urban Co-operative Bank and SCARDBc/PCARDBs. The main topics covered are importance of financing rural housing from bank's profitability point of view, various appraisal techniques including evaluation of customer, Risk management techniques, Securitisation - Housing loan products, alternative mortgage instruments and NABARD's initiatives in Housing loan.

Programme on Financing of Micro Enterprises by Self Help Groups
 
This programme could be useful to Branch Managers of Commercial Banks, RRBs and Cooperative Banks having experience in SHG financing. Areas such as Sustainability of SHG Bank Linkage Programmes need for graduation to Micro Enterprises stage by SHGs, identification & Development of Enterprises, identification of Potential Activities and appraisal of Micro Enterprises are covered in this programme.
   
Programme on Basic Project Appraisal Skills
 
This is the core project management course offered by BIRD to middle and senior level officials of RRBs, cooperative banks and commercial banks. The one week programme covers aspect like concept of project, project cycle, aspect of appraisal with particular reference to financial appraisal, assessment of Working Capital etc. Appraisal of farm sector projects is taken-up through a few case studies. Aspects like monitoring, follow-up documentation, NPA Management, etc
   
Programme on Hi-Tech Agriculture
 
Considering the importance of Hi-Tech agriculture in the context of WTO Agreement, BIRD has designed this programme for the middle and senior level officials of commercial banks, RRBs and cooperative banks. The programme covers aspects like concept of project, types of appraisal, special points to be looked into while appraising high value agricultural projects, working capital management etc. With the help of a few case studies, practical aspects of appraisal of hi tech agriculture projects are brought out.
Programme on Agri Export Zones (AEZs)
 
In the context of importance attached to implementation of Agri Export Zones (AEZs) by Government of India, RBI, NABARD etc. a three-day sensitization programme is designed. The senior level officials of all rural financial institution (RFIs) who are looking after implementation of AEZs may take the advantage of this programme. The contents covered are importance of Agri - Export Zones in the context of National Agriculture Policy and EXIM policy, concept of AEZs, Role of various project partners in implementation of AEZs, Export Credit, etc. A few successful examples of agri - export are also shared.
   
Programme on Funds and Investment Management
 
This programme is meant for the senior level officers of banks including GMs and CEOs. At the end of the programme the participants will be able to understand the issues relating to Fund and Investment Management, to create awareness on the intricacies in Fund & Investment Management and to develop the skills for improving the efficiency of Fund & Investment Management function. The course content will cover scanning and understanding of financial environment, understanding the nature and characteristics of fund flows, microscopic view of investment market- instruments and players, measuring and managing risks and returns in investments, use of tools and techniques for fund management, review of fund management situation in banks, portfolio analysis of funds for different purposes and Introduction to the concept of "Asset Liability Management".
   
Programme on Asset Liability Management
 
This programme is meant for middle and senior level officers of the banks. At the end of the programme, the participants will be able to understand the concepts and dynamics of ALM and familiarize with the tools / techniques in ALM. The contents of the programme will cover banking sector reforms and the policy measures, money market, capital market and credit market, Risk Management- Liquidity risk, interest rate risk etc. External data gathering and Internal date gathering - analysis, measurement, analysis and management of liquidity risk and interest rate risk - gap, Duration & VAR, Pricing strategy and execution of the policy, asset liability management committee (ALCO) etc.
   
Programme on NPA and Credit Risk Management
 
This programme is meant for officials at branch level as well as middle management cadre. The programme will enable the participants to understand the need and impact of NPA management, familiarization with the policy guidelines on prudential norms, acquire knowledge and skills to apply asset classification, income recognition and provisioning norms, familiarization with different management techniques on recovery management so as to contain non-performing assets. The contents will cover broadly prudential norms- concept, introduction of prudential norms to Indian banking system, policy guidelines on prudential norms, case exercises on asset classification, income recognition and provisioning requirements, assessment of impact of prudential norms on operating result of banks, credit risk and techniques to credit risk management, good appraisal techniques. Techniques of management of Non-performing assets, DRT/ Securitisation Act will be solicited and Case studies on recovery management.
   
Programme on Strengthening of Internal Control Systems
 
The programme will enable the participants to equip with necessary skills to devise off site surveillance and early warning system, equip with knowledge, skill and attitude required to manage control functions, develop skills for prevention/ detecting frauds and familiarize with the prudential norms and disclosures. The contents will broadly cover concept of risk management in banks, internal control system devices, objectives and features, implementation of prudential norms, income recognition, asset classification and provisioning requirements, analysis of financial statements- important ratios, revenue audit and income leakage - conduct and management , causes and preventive measures-frauds, robberies and embezzlement, CAMELS rating systems and their relevance, designing internal control systems for risk management, control system for investment operations, precautionary measures on computer disaster management, branch control-needs, methods, performance appraisal etc. , inspection in computerized environment-precautions, case studies from RRBs and co-operatives on asset classification/compliance and actual reports. The programme is meant for senior Managers and Audit Officers of RRBs.
